It’s time for Sacramento to stop overlooking Santa Cruz County.
Consider that this county does not have a member on the state Coastal Commission, even though the commission has a member designated to represent the Central Coast counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Mateo.
SANTA CRUZ — Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, D-Los Angeles, is broadening the search for the next appointment to the California Coastal Commission, a move that puts a handful of Santa Cruz County residents in contention and raises the prospect of a local voice on the powerful state board.
The arrogance of the California Coastal Commission staff knows no bounds. So, hats off to Sen. Denise Ducheny, D-San Diego, for countering the staff’s audacious interpretations of state law.
On February 8, 2008, the Coastal Commission will hold a hearing on 1) minor amendments requested by the OAL of the Commission’s regulations concerning filing fees, as adopted by the Commission on November 14, 2007, and 2) revision to the Initial Statement of Reasons (ISR), and Commission action on said minor amendments to section 13055(h) and revisions to ISR.
The California Coastal Commission is considering changes to Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations. The contact person must receive all written comments concerning the proposed modifications on or before October 29, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.
