Great news!
On March 20, 2012 the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors passed the ordinance we have been supporting. This ordinance includes addressing legally built structures that have become nonconforming over the years due to subsequent ordinance changes.
This ordinance allows these nonconforming structures to be 100% rebuilt after a catastrophic event even if the structure is completely destroyed. Discretionary site development approval may still be required or rebuilding limited to 80% if the structure crosses a property line, is in a riparian corridor, or is within 5′ of a right-of way or planned right-of-way improvement. The ordinance does not change any geological related requirements.
